Anumasamudram Peta(Rahamatabad)

Located 60 Kms from Nellore , The site of an ancient mosque, where an annual urnus of Khaja Rahamthullah attracts pilgrims from all over the state.

 

Chengalamma Temple

Located 100 Kms from Nellore, Situated on the banks of river kalingi is the Chengalamma Temple which represents the culmination of three goddesses namely Saraswathi, Mahalaxmi and Parvathi

 

Jonnawada  

Located 25 Kms from Nellore, It is famous for the temple of Goddes Kamakshi, praying to whom is belived to relieve one from all problems and diseases. A ' Sri Chakram' installed by Sri Jagadguru Sankaracharya. Can be seen here. The annual 10-day festival of the presiding Goddess is celebrated with great pomp & show during april - may.

Nelapattu Bird Sancturay
 

A must-visit for all bird lovers, this world-renowned sanctuary on the banks of Pulicat lake, is spread over 486 sq.km. Here you can sopt the famous Siberian Cranes and nearly 160 species of birds from as far away as the USA, China, Antarctica among others.
It is the breeding gound for rare and endangered species like Grey Pelicans, Open-Billed Storks, Little Cormorants, Spoon Bills, White Ibises and Night Herons. Egrets, Terns and Ducks also find it an ideal roosting place.
The reserve forest area is home to animals like Jackals, Slender Loris and Spotted Deer as well as reptiles such as snakes, tortoieses and monitor lizards.
For the nature enthusiast, an environmental education center, museum, library and an auditorium with audiovisual equipemtn, serve as a means of information and interpretation

 

Penchalakona

Located 50 Kms from Nellore , A major pilgrimage centre, it is famous for the temple of Sri Penusila Narsimha Swamy ,situated at the foot of a hill. Mountains and dense forests surround the scenic spot, which ensure a pleasant cool climate throughout the years. Kanva Maharshi is believed to have performed penance here. The annul festival of the deity is celebrated during April - May.

 

Pulicat Lake  

Pulicat Lake is the second blackish water lagoon in India and is famous for the presence of a variety of aquatic & terrestrial birds like flamingoes, painted storks, grey pelicans and seagulls and large number of migratory birds visit the Lake.

Sri Raja Rajeshwari Ammavari Devasthanam  

Sri Arul Jyoti Nataraja Murthy Swamy of Sri Arul Jyoti Nataraja Murthy Swamy Ashram Pitadhipathi wished to have a temple for Sri Devi. In 1968 Sri Ratna Swamy Mudiliar and Sri Veera Raghava Iyyengar prevailed upon the district authorities of Nellore and got allotted one acre of land. The foundation stone was laid by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Pitadhipathi Paramacharyulu Sri Sri Sri Chandra Sekhara Saraswathi Swamy. After the completion of construction Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Pitadhipathi Sri Jayendra Saraswathi consecrated the idol of Sri Rajeshwari Ammavaru on 6-3-1975. In the memory of his late father Sri Chinnappa Mudiliar, Sri Rama Swamy Mudiliar got constructed the Mukhamandapam and from the amount of donors Mahamandapam. M/s Madaviah furniture donated for Navagrah Mandapam. In 1985 the Temple came under the administrative control of the Endowments Department who are also taking several steps for the improvement of the temple which is attracting thousands of devotees daily.

 

 
Ranganayaka Temple  

More than 500 years old, this temple is situated on the baks of the river Pennar and is marked by a huge 29mts tall Galigopuram with seven gold kalasams. Well-known for its architectural splendour, the main deity of the temple is in a reclining posutre on his couch, Anantga Sesha. In the remarkable Addalamantapam (Mirror Parlour), the mirrors are strategically arranged to offer a spectacular view of the deity from various angles. The ceiling, adorned with paintings of Lord Krishna, is unique in many aspects.

 

Somasila  

Located 80 Kms from Nellore , a dam is Constructed here across the Pennar river as it flows through the narrow Velikonda Hills. A famous Siva Temple built during the 7 th century A.D.is worth a visit.

 

Udayagiri Fort

Located 96 Kms from Nellore, This is the site of a mighty fortress built by the Vijayanagar Kings in the 14 century. A towering peak reaching a heaight of mts can be seen here ,which is called Sanjiva Hill because a wide variety of medicinal herbs grow on it. Sevaral ancient Pallava and Chola temples, remarkable for their architececture are worth a visit.

 

Sri Venugopala Swamy Devasthanam  

Sri Venugopala Swamy Devasthanam, is in Moolapet of Nellore District . Built in 1883, the presiding diety of the temple is Sri Rukmini Satyabhama Sametha Sri Venugopala Swamy. The idols are in lblack stone and special poojas are performed every Friday, Satgurday and Sunday. There are also other prominent temples to visit in close proximity.
