Adurru(Dubaraju Gudi) |

Adurru is located near Nagaram in Razole taluk of East
Godavari district. The village lies on the west bank of the
Vainetaya, a branch of Godavari river 9.5 km. from the sea.
The mound is locally known as Dubaraju Gudi. Archaeological
Survey of India conducted excarations in 1953 and brought to
light, remains of stupas, chaityas and vinaras among which the
Mahastupa, built on wheel shaped plan 17 feet in diameter with
a raised platform running all round the drum and ayaka
platforms on cardinal directions. The Buddhist remnants spread
accross an area of approximately 2.04 acres.

Annavaram
is famous for Lord Veera Venkata Satya Narayana Swamy temple,
situated atop the Ratnagiri Hills on the banks of the river
Pampa. One of the most popular temples in Andhra Pradesh. The
shrine is constructed in two storey, the lower one containing
an Yantra and upper one housing of the Idol of the Lord.

It is
located 15 Kms from Sakhinetipalli, 20 Kms from Razolu and
10 Kms from Narsapur, at the confluence of the Bay of Bengal
and river Vasistha. Nestled amidst lush ambience, legend has
it that this is where Maharishi Vasistha brought the river
Godavari. Antarvedi is famous for the temple of Sri Laxmi
Narasimha Swamy, built during the 15th -16th centuries A.D.
The main temple has a five-storey Vimana and apart from the
main deity it also houses idols of Brahma, Vishnu, Maheswara
and other Gods.

stone temples of the Eastern Chalukyas during the 9th - 10th
centuries , the temples are a fine example of the
architectural grandeur that was typical of the Dravidian

masterpiece of chalukyan craftsmanship.

Coringa Wild Life Sanctuary |

Situated 20 Kms from Kakinada and 70 Kms from Rajahmundry,
this sanctuary is a part of river Godavari and has a rich
growth of Mangrove plantation. A unique feature of this
sanctuary is that it's located on the back waters of the sea.
Otter, a protected specie is found here. Among other animals
which include Fishing Cat, Jackal, Sea Turtle and Estuarine
Crocodile which are found in the creeks. The common birds
found are Snipes, Ducks, ,Sea Gulls and Flamingos. Best
season to visit is from October to May. Accommodation is
available at forest rest houses located at Coringa and
Rajahmundry

Kms from Kakinada, the Bhimeswara Swamy
temple, also known as Dakshin Kashi is located
here. It is one of the trilingas of the state. The temple is
noted not only for its architectural beauty and historical
importance, but also for its
sanctity and holiness which attracts pilgrims
in large numbers. The architecture is a perfect and harmonious
blend of both Chalukya and Chola style of temple architecture.
There are 381 inscriptions ranging from 1080 A.D. to 1434 A.D.
The shape of the Linga is a long cylindrical pillar of about
20 - 25 feet height.

This is a ferry point at Rajahmundry to cross the Godavari,
with beautifully built steps and bathing ghats all along the
riverbank . The Kotilingeswara Temple built In the 10th -

A holy pilgrim centre for Sivaites, it is located 45 Kms from
Kakinada near Draksharamam. According to a legend, king lndra
was cursed by sage Gautama. To relieve himself of the curse he
installed a Sivalinga and anointed it with water from one
crore rivers. Hence this temple is known as Kotilingeswara
temple. It is believed that a holy dip in the river Godavari
relieves one from all sins.

Papikonda
wildlife sanctuary is spread in three districts, Viz: Khammam,
East Godavari and West Godavari. It is 50-km from Rajahmundry
and extends over 591 sq km. It lies on the left and right
banks of the river Godavari and cuts through the Papikonda
hill range of Eastern Ghats. Varied and multifarious
streams emanating from covers of the hill make the Papikonda
forest vegetation luxuriant. All these constitute to make the
area into a typical ecological, facinal and geomorphological
zone.

An exciting launch ride on river Godavari from Devipatnam
takes you to the tribal villages of Gandipochama and
Rampachodavaram. While at Rampachodavaram, one can drive
down to Marademalli just 20 kms away, which is a little known
hill station. The drive throught the dense jungle is quite
enjoyable and one can expect to encounter wild life. At
Marademalli coffee and rubber plantations are cultivated by
the tribals. Here one can witness the traditional tribal
dance , "Rela" performed by women dressed in bright attire.
The dance is highly rhythmic accompanied by singing . Yet
another tribal dance called Kommu is Performed by men only ,
dressed in typical tribal attire with a head gear of horns.
