Bhagavan Mahavir Government Museum

A museum of historical and archeological significance is the Bhagavan Mahavir Government Museum in Cuddapah. It is a treasure house of ancient stone sculptures, bronze icons and inscriptions dating back to several centuries. The Museum was established in 1982 with donations from a local Jain businessman and hence it was named after Mahavir.

 

Chand Phira Gumbadh

Chand Phira Gumbadh is the mausoleum of Syed Shah Mohammed Hussian. It is located in a square building with large dome in the centre, surrounded by tall walls, in the heart of the city. The parapets of the building are faced with arabesque panels in platter.

 

 
Gandikota Fort  

The early history of Gandikota, according to a legend contained in the Kaifiyat of Gandikota, begins in 12th AD when, a certain chief Kakaraja, a subordinate of Ahavamalla Someswara I, the Western Chalukyan king of Kalyana, founded it in 1123 A.D. It also played a significant role during the Kakatiya, Vijayanagara and Qutub Shahi periods.

 

Kandimallayapalli Brahmamgarimatam
 

Sri Potuluri Veerabrahmam who was famous for his preachings and mainly for his remarks on future of the world, stayed in Kandimallayapalli. Brahmamgari Matham was built in Kandimallayapalli after the death of Veerabrahmam. The Matham does not look like temple but has beautifully carved statues and its walls are full of Veerabrahmendra Swamy?s preachings and his predictions. Siddaih matham and Veerabrahmendra reservoir are other two places of interest nearer to this place.

 

Masjid-e-Azam

This beautiful mosque is located near the fort. It was built in 1691 AD during the reign of Aurangzeb.

 

Pakhal Lake
 

Pakhal Wildlife Sanctuary is located 50 Km from Warangal, along the shoreline of Pakhal Lake and is named after it. It is a manmade lake, excavated in 1213 AD by the Kakatiyas. The sanctuary is spread over 880 sq.km consisting of a large plateau surrounded by low hills. The environment and the Pakhal Lake form the core area of the sanctuary. The vegetation consists of tropical dry deciduous mixed forests, bamboo and mixed teak forests.

 

 
Pushpagiri Temples
 

There are good number of temples built during the Vijayanagara period on the bankes of Pennar among which the Chennakesava Swamy temple is famous.
Special poojas are performed on every Monday, Friday, and Saturday.

Ramappa Lake

The lake holds a great scenic beauty,with its serene surrondings, giving a mystical air to the Ramappa Temple. The Kakatiya rulers followed the tradition of costructiong a tank adjacent to a temple.In line with this tradition, the Ramappa Lake was also costructed adjoining the temple.

 
Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy Temple  

The famous Temple of Sri Kodanda Ramaswamy situated at Vontimitta town is about 25 km from Cuddapah, known for its splendid architecture. The lofty gateway, spacious mandapam with exquisitely carved pillars with various patterns, the inner chamber and the sanctum make it a most impressive temple.

 

Sri Lanka Malleswara Wild life Sanctuary  

Spread over an area of 464.42 sq. km. in Cuddapah district this sanctuary lies at a distance of 15 km. from Cuddapah. The sanctuary has deep gorges and steep slopes with beautiful waterfalls.
The forest of this sanctuary is dry deciduous thorn mixed forests, dry evergreen scrubs, etc. It is the home of Red Sanders, an endemic species of the area.
This sanctuary is the habitat for the rare and endangered species, double-banded Jordan’s courser.

 

 
Sri Venkateswara Wild Life Sanctuary  

Sri Venkateswara Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Rajampet of Cuddapah district and Chandragiri and Boilapadu of Chittoor district. It is also contains one of the national Parks in Andhra Pradesh. It is spread over an area of 505.94 sq. km of which 353 sq. km is the national Park. It is famous for very rare slender Lories and plant species like Sandalwood, Redsandars, Shorea, Thumbergiana.

 

 
Tallapaka Temples  

Tallapaka village is in Rajampet mandal of Cuddapah district. The village has the distinction of being the birthplace of Saint Annamacharya the famous composer of devotional songs on Lord Venkateswara who made invaluable contribution to music and literature during the 15th century. Dhyana Mandiram was constructed in memory great Saint Annamacharya, at Tallapaka.
